Girls in Literature Tea and Discussion Group
This monthly tea and discussion group for girls aged 10-14 offers structured discussion of well-known female literary characters. At the beginning of each four month session, participants are provided with a list from which they select three books they would like to read and discuss at the following meetings. This group offers girls a chance to explore not only the portrayal of girls in literature but also the social and moral dilemmas faced by girls during this important phase of life. Emphasis is placed upon the manner in which circumstances and personal decisions shape the characters of girls portrayed within these novels.
A Young Girl Reading by Jean-Honoré Fragonard, c. 1776.
