The relevance of Classical Languages is clear: most of our language is derived from them, they form the basis of many other modern languages (Spanish, French, Portuguese, Italian, Roumanian and Modern Greek, for example) and important literary, historical and Church documents are written in them. Additionally, medical, legal and scientific terminology are derived from them. Further, developing a basic understanding of Classical Languages helps students to understand the structure of their own first language.
